Being My Best Me — is Best for You

Making the country better starts with me.

Now that I’ve said Canada is in such bad shape (in my last 6 blogs), where do we go from here? Is it irreparable? No, I don’t believe it is. But like anything else, the longer you take before repairing it, the harder it will be.

Looking at the big picture first, there is certainly beauty in the world. We can see glimpses of it here and there. I think we can also agree that our country, and indeed the world, is not as it should be. Let’s see what can be done about it!

We also know that the universe is expanding. Which is expanding faster right now, the beauty or the ugly side? A general principle is that what we focus on expands. So, while the legacy media is tempting us to focus on the bad stuff going on in the world, it is best not to follow along. Rather, if we want good things to increase, let’s start by focussing on the good!

How we view this universe of ours will determine our understanding of this principle. Scientific discoveries over the past 200 years have shown the theory of evolution to be fatally flawed. Many scientists believe Intelligent Design to be a much more compelling explanation of the origin of human life than evolution and natural selection.

Interior Design

The world is full of unique individuals. We were all born with a creative spark and have our part to play. The good news is that we are being invited to use that spark and talent to help fix the world. But before we fix the world, or the country, let’s discover and develop that talent first.

There are two great days in your life. The day you were born and the day you discovered why.”

- Tony Fitzgerald

If we have been designed, then it follows that we have been designed with an intended purpose. As part of the universe, we humans are designed with a destiny. At some point in life, we have to decide what we were put on this planet for. There are two great days in your life. The day you were born and the day you discovered why. Science can come up with theories of how something happened, like being born, but can never tell us why. Future blogs will do a deep dive into just how we can discover why we are here.

A person’s destiny needs to be discovered because no two snowflakes, or people, are alike. It is what we do with the both our inherent nature and the nurturing we were given that determines what kind of person we become.

Do What You Do Best

We are no blank slate — we are unique individuals born with different proclivities. Parents can recognize these differences and show them how to use their brain in the way that theirs works best. Since many of our parents didn’t do a great job of that, we will explore how to do that for ourselves in future blogs.

While we are all different, a few of us seem to be way more different than the rest. So, what does Jeff Bezos, or Elon Musk have that I don’t have? Yes, more money, but before that, there was something else different. We all have been created with the capacity for insane levels of expansion and abundance. I would suggest that some of us have regulated our genes better than others.

These well regulated genes are actually just a matter of refining our habits. We all do things habitually. Habits are good things to have. They allow us to be efficient. Sometimes, though, we need to adjust those thought patterns that served us well up till now, but need to be upgraded to keep up with our fast paced life!

This upgrading requires a certain level of awareness of our feelings and thoughts. Later in the series, I will describe an ancient technique that anyone can do to achieve such awareness. When we look into our thoughts, we realize that some are a better reflection of reality and our destiny than others.

So, how do I recognize the difference between truth and lies? What lies am I accepting from the outside (legacy media, social media, parents, etc.)? What lies have I bought into, and am now telling myself? In recent blogs, we have investigated some lies that are out there. Each one takes me further from my destiny. This self awareness will reveal these lies that have gotten inside my head. I have developed tips and tricks for how to read and listen critically, to be more aware of what lies are out there, trying to get in.

Being Social and Sociable

Each of these unique individuals are also social creatures. In the western world, we focus on gaining independence as we grow up and have largely forgotten the next developmental step of interdependence. This step is essential to live in harmony with nature and with the rest of society.

The people involved in the Freedom Convoy developed their own community while staying in for a month they were in Ottawa. This shows the basic need that humans have for community. It also demonstrates that random people from across the country have the ability to be interdependent with each other. Our actions affect the people around us in profound ways, whether we realize it or not. As a nation, we are dependent on each other. The question always is: “How many people are going to be negatively and positively impacted?”

As a society, we have made political rules to minimize the negative effects of certain actions. For the unenlightened, we have created a minimum set of rules of behaviour in order for them to be able to live with us, without destroying the fabric of society.

For those who don’t have internal guiding principles for their life, external controls are required — things like manners, hate speech rules, and if need be, jail. For those who are living well, it is irrelevant what the penalty for robbery, or murder is. The Law wasn’t written for them. They’ll never need to know.

History of the Heart

So, yes, it is important for societies to have good laws. At the same time, it is foolish to rely on laws to reform a country. What a country needs is for more citizens to be enlightened, and living well. This would solve the prison overcrowding problems. However, this is something that can only truly be done at the heart level — one by one in each individual’s heart, or brain.

There are universal triggers that our brains are hard-wired to respond to. These external stimuli affect us all. To what extent our emotions are triggered is determined by the internal processes of our brains. And this depends on how we have responded to traumas and temptations in the past.

It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both.

- Niccolo Machiavelli

Many politicians around the world seem to have taken Machiavelli’s advice to heart. Fear and division is something all of us have been bombarded with, especially in the past 2 years. This is commonly referred to as wedge politics and has become a popular tool to get into power for many national leaders.

And we’re letting them use this against us, falling right into the trap. We have either been given a spirit of fear, or of power, love and a sound mind. Once someone accepts the fear, it is easier to intimidate and control them. And division destroys interdependence, unity, and mature growth in society.

Fear and division leads to hate. Hate is detrimental to anyone’s spiritual, physical and mental health. Hate also leads to more crime and less love.

So, what is the vaccine against hate? I believe that, in the end, love wins. Love produces resilience in us. Yes, we can fall in love, which is a temporary state. But, then what? Is it possible to stay in love, to keep loving? In future blogs, we’ll explore how to stay in contact with the source of love.

Enough is Enough

Are enough people going to be loving enough to turn the tide in this battle currently going on in democracies? I honestly don’t know. But I do know that nothing happens if we don’t show up.

Fear and faith both require that you believe in something that you can’t see, something that hasn’t happened yet. It is up to each of us to decide what to let into our hearts. Which are you going to choose?

Are you just in your job because the pay is decent and has good benefits? That’s the road to burnout and an uninspired life. Or, are you doing what you, as a unique individual, were designed for?

We all need inspiration so that we can feel our life purpose and fulfill our destiny. Follow Life Search for inspiration and more ideas and answers in this series of blogs.
